By now, your 2-year-old can sing the ABCs and even pretends to read. Laying the foundation for reading and writing, these Blue Ribbon books have been hand-selected by Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library literacy experts for containing characteristics specific to their age appropriateness including:

  • Wordless books – build your own story (reader and child)
  • Values and character
  • Issues – fear, conflict, love, safety
  • Colors, letters, numbers
  • Nursery rhymes

They also build on concepts such as:

  • Repetition and predictability – generate language
  • Motor skills
  • “Self-help” activities – things children can do, things familiar in their daily life
  • Use of real photo illustration
  • Body awareness
  • Nursery rhymes
  • Colors, letters, numbers

In addition to promoting age-appropriate language and literacy skills, books are chosen to promote a love of reading and learning; regard for diversity of people, their roles, culture, and environment; promotion of self-esteem and confidence, appreciation of art and aesthetics.

ABC Look at Me Book Cover“ABC Look At Me,” a fun, interactive book by Roberta Intrater, will be sent to Group 2 children (born in 2015) in the month of November.  Your child will love the bold colors of the letters and the smiling faces featured throughout.  This “lift and learn” book contains over 40 flaps your child can lift to reveal surprises (and promote motor skills!).

Each book from the Imagination Library is hand-selected by education experts to promote the love of reading and learning; regard for diversity of people, their roles, culture, and environment; promotion of self-esteem and confidence, appreciation of art and aesthetics. Group 2 books also contain the following age-appropriate concepts:
